View of the V Twin engine on Gondola

Finally a steam video on water! This is a video of the superbly restored Nation trust's steam yacht Gondola. She was commissioned by Sir James Ramsden, director of the Furness Railway in the late 1850s because he saw the potential for the railway to transport tourists to the Lake District.
He therefore commissioned Gondola to sail Coniston Water with tourists that had traveled on the Furness Railway Paddle steamers from Fleetwood to Barrow in Furness.
The original Gondola sailed from the southern end of Coniston Water to the north daily from 1859 till her decommission in 1936.
From 1946 until the early 1960s she was a houseboat at the southern most tip of Coniston Water until she sank following a violent storm.
When she was being restored by the National trust a new hull was built, restored non original boiler & engine fitted etc so she is really a new vessel to a classic design.
